Community Health Centers (CHCs) can often find vaccine management a struggle in their practices. Maintaining vaccine supplies may be a challenge to ensure they are administering safe vaccines to the communities they serve. Vaccines prevent diseases that can be very serious. With flu vaccines, immunizations, and even the COVID-19 vaccine, health centers are looking for new ways to Vaccinate with Confidence. In hopes to reduce vaccine waste, loss, and help the bottom line, health centers are turning to the AccuVax Vaccine Management System.
What is the AccuVax Vaccine Management System?
AccuVax is the emerging standard in vaccine management for individual clinics, major health systems, and public healthcare facilities throughout the U.S. AccuVax is the only vaccine storage and management system that automates vaccine control and integrity, minimizes risks of incorrect vaccine delivery, and optimizes office workflow so that providers can focus on Top of License care. The AccuVax system is purpose-built with an integrated refrigerator, freezer, digital data loggers, alerting suite, battery backup, and on-going maintenance and support.
What can the AccuVax Vaccine Management System do for CHCs?
- Protects vaccine integrity and potency with guaranteed temperature management
- Minimizes vaccine waste, loss, and shrinkage to improve the bottom line
- Saves time and automates VFC and CDC compliance to reduce staff and provider burden
- Maximizes patient safety and reduces medication errors with intuitive graphical user interface
Newly Developed - OSIS NextGen Interface to the AccuVax Vaccine Management System.
Are you a NextGen user? Does your health center leverage AccuVax? In partnership with AccuVax, OSIS has developed a new bidirectional interface for NextGen EHR users so the AccuVax Vaccine Management System automatically dispenses and charts patient vaccinations. Immunization orders are automatically transmitted from the electronic health record (EHR) to the AccuVax unit and back to the patient’s chart to ensure accurate vaccine dispensing and reduce risk when administering vaccines.
Is NextGen version a variable?
The OSIS NextGen Interface was developed alongside NextGen 5.9.3 (Minimum Rosetta Version 5.9.3.0.6). Additional Rosetta Interface configuration may be required to set up the OSIS NextGen Interface on an earlier version of NextGen (5.9.0 – 5.9.2). The interface also requires the use of the Immunization Module.
What is the estimated time to roll out the OSIS NextGen Interface if AccuVax® is already used? Does the timeline change with number of units used?
The overall estimated timeline for implementation will be take anywhere from three to five weeks, depending on obstacles, access, etc. Overall, the more units there are, the more development there will be, however it is not as significant as the initial build.
Does OSIS Hosted vs self-hosted or third-party hosted impact timeline?
Since we have direct access to a Test Environment, reducing the time spent coordinating, OSIS Hosted CHCs can likely expect quicker implementation, as opposed to those CHCs hosted by third parties. Visit OSIS NextGen Hosting to learn how OSIS provides hosting services to Community Health Centers around the nation.
What does an example of implementation look like if we had multiple units at different locations?
If you have five locations with an AccuVax unit at each location, phase one might be deployment of a single location with comprehensive oversight/monitoring. When complete, phase two might be deployment for all four remaining locations with limited remote oversight.
What are the benefits to adding the OSIS NextGen Interface to the AccuVax Vaccine Management System?
- Vaccine orders are sent automatically from NextGen and sent back to the patient’s chart using the OSIS NextGen Interface.
- Vaccine dosage, lot, expiration, and time administered is accurately transmitted back to NextGen.
- The interface enhances the vaccine management with another layer of safety and time reduction to a practice.
Community Health Centers can now take advantage of this exciting opportunity to leverage the interface to simplify vaccine management. “We have used the AccuVax Vaccine Management System for over a year to provide exceptional protection for our vaccines and make VFC compliance much simpler for our teams.” says Marc Bellisario, CEO of Primary Health Solutions, in Ohio. “The addition of the OSIS NextGen integration enhances AccuVax with another layer of safety and time savings by automatically dispensing the ordered dose.”
